Gangotri & Harsil & Blog

Gangotri, located in the Uttarkashi district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand, is a significant pilgrimage site in Hinduism. It is one of the four sites in the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. Situated at an altitude of 3,100 meters (10,200 feet) on the banks of the Bhagirathi River, Gangotri is the origin point of the holy river Ganges.

According to Hindu mythology, it was at Gangotri that Goddess Ganga descended to Earth in the form of a river to absolve the sins of King Bhagirath’s ancestors. The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, was built by the Gorkha commander Amar Singh Thapa in the early 18th century and is a major attraction for pilgrims.

    Day 0: Delhi - Rishikesh
  • Arrive at pickup point of Delhi at 9:30 p.m Start your overnight journey to Rishikesh.

  • Day 1: Rishikesh - Harsil Valley - Bagori village
  • Arrival at Rishikesh in early morning and drive to Uttarkashi. Visit the Vishwanath temple. .
  • Drive to Bagori Village (80 Kms) and spend afternoon at Bagori Village. Overnight stay at Hotel in Dharali/Jhala
  • Day 2: Harsil Valley - Gartang Gali - Gangotri
  • Wake up early morning and drive to View Point Swami Sundrananda view point, Lanka bridge , Gartang Gali, Gangotri Temple. .
  • Overnight stay at Hotel in Dharali /Jhala.
  • Day 3: Harsil Valley - Tehri Lake - Rishikesh - Delhi
  • Wake up early morning and start drive to Tehri lake. .
  • After visiting Tehri Lake continue your journey to Rishikesh.
  • Arrive Rishikesh at 6 p.m and Depart for Delhi.
  • Reach Delhi and conclude your trip.
